Chptr Announces Partnership with ObituaryShare

4 min read

Integration brings ObituaryShare's reporting, analytics and audience data into Chptr's funeral home marketing offerings, while Chptr names funeral service leader Bob Arrington Senior Vice President of Funeral Home Services.

NEW YORK, September 16, 2026 — Chptr, the service-first media technology company helping funeral homes strengthen their presence in the communities they serve, today announced a partnership with ObituaryShare, an obituary distribution and marketing platform built specifically for funeral homes.

Through the partnership, Chptr and ObituaryShare will give funeral homes a more connected way to extend the reach of the stories they already share, understand how those stories perform and use meaningful audience insights to guide future marketing decisions.

At Chptr, Arrington will oversee the development and launch of an entirely new marketing product built specifically for funeral homes of all sizes. The new offering will help firms strengthen their market presence and improve business performance in a more efficient and effective way, without requiring additional staff, complicated systems or the escalating costs commonly associated with traditional marketing.

"Funeral directors should be able to focus their time and resources on serving families and leading their communities," said Arrington. "The companies that support this profession have a responsibility to make growth simpler, more effective and more accessible, not to burden funeral homes with more platforms to manage, more work for their staff or costs that are difficult to justify. What Chptr is building has the potential to fundamentally change that equation, and I am excited to help bring it to funeral homes across the country."

The partnership is designed to be simple for funeral homes to adopt and manage. It builds on the obituary content and family stories funeral homes already produce, extending that content across additional channels while providing useful performance insights without adding complicated systems or significant work for funeral home staff.

"Bob understands this profession at every level, as a funeral director, an owner, an innovator and a national leader," said Rehan Choudhry, founder and CEO of Chptr. "More importantly, he shares our conviction that funeral homes deserve partners who are genuinely invested in their growth and who make their work easier, not more complicated. Bob's experience and perspective will be instrumental as we build a completely new way for funeral homes to grow their businesses, strengthen their community presence and receive more value from the work they already perform every day."

Arrington, a funeral director for more than five decades and a former president of the National Funeral Directors Association, co-founded ObituaryShare with longtime newspaper executive Roy Heatherly. Their combined experience in funeral service, publishing, advertising and marketing helped shape ObituaryShare as an affordable, measurable alternative to traditional obituary distribution.

Additional details about the partnership and its offerings for funeral homes will be announced in the coming months.
