Mrs. Betty Jean Loyless, daughter of the late Clarence Reed and Jean Reed, was born January 11, 1951, in Meridian, Mississippi. She quietly departed this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana, with her husband of 31 years James “Jim” Loyless holding her hand. She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Reed and Jean Reed, and her son Eric Wilkinson.
Mrs. Betty was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church in Beekman, Louisiana. She loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her church family, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially bream fishing and travelling in the mountains. Shopping was another favorite pastime. She loved watching hummingbirds on her front porch and seeing the leaves change color in the fall. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all those who knew her.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband Jim Loyless; children Melanie Browning and husband Will, and Allen Wilkinson; stepchildren David Loyless and wife Emma, and Jonathan Loyless; brother Ronnie Reed and wife Geraldine; sister Dorothy Rietzke and husband Rick; grandchildren Jason Lowery, Logan Wilkinson, Caleb Wilkinson, Adelaide Loyless, Henry Loyless, and Levi Loyless; as well as five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 2, at Bethel Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Post officiating. Interment will follow in Beekman Cemetery. The deacons of Bethel Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
