Country: United States | State: Tennessee | City: Jackson

Dolores Blackmon died January 16, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 21, 1923 the daughter of Conrad and Lottie Haltom. She worked for Bemis Millworks, Lambuth College and the West TN office for US Senator Jim Sasser.
She loved life and thanked God for each day and moment. She loved her sons Dolphus and Tim, family, friends, and her beloved husband Hugh of 65 years. They had a very special and loving relationship always putting God first in their lives.
One of the things she loved most was her church family with Hayes Avenue and Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member, a Sunday school teacher, involved with MYF, an active member of the choir, served on numerous committees and the communion director for many years.
She is survived by her son Dolphus and wife Patrice of Ridgeland, MS, grandchildren, who referred to her as “Nanny”, Ashley and husband Brandon, Britton and husband Caylon and her great grandchildren Cambrie and Carlyn. She was very excited about the arrival of twins for Britton and Caylon in July. As Ashley said she was a grandmother who was more of a best friend, taking her to Opryland when she was around 10 years old and riding the wildest rides with her. Her other granddaughter, Britton, fondly remembers how many times she stood in a chair helping her cook breakfast or dinner and also loved going to Aldersgate and attending her grandfather “Pop” Sunday school class when she 6 or 7.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hugh, son Tim and three brothers, Jimmy, Ralph and Hayden Haltom.
