Dr. Joe W. Mosley, 83, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away August 21, 2020, following complications from a lengthy and courageous battle of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Joe graduated from Classen High School, Oklahoma City, in 1954 and was Senior Class President. He received a Bachelor of Arts, from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1958.
In 1968, Joe received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1978 he received his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary. He was awarded the Alumni Profile of Excellence Award in 1997.
Joe Pastored Baptist churches for 30 years in Oklahoma. Those churches were Abel Community, Oklahoma City, and Rush Springs. He also Pastored churches in Bridgeport and Farmers Branch, Texas.
After retiring as a Pastor, he served as Assistant Director of Dallas Baptist Association and served Dallas Inner-City Ministries. His Chaplaincy included the Dallas Police Department and Victim Relief Ministry. He also served as Ministry Students Director at Dallas Baptist University.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Ellen Mosley and brother, Ben Mosley.
He leaves behind his beloved family and wife of 62 years, Eileen; son Steve and wife Teresa Mosley; daughter Juli and husband Scott McTague; six grandchildren; Sarah, Abby, Katie, Stephen, Morgan, and Taylor; and three great-grandchildren; Ladd, Lleyton, and Atticus.
Joe dedicated his life to ministry and serving his community. He loved spending summers at the lake with family, fishing, playing golf, and eating ice cream.
A Private Family Committal will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
