
Elton T. Mayse Jr., 92, passed away September 29, 2019. He heard his Saviour and Lord say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” He was a World War II veteran who came home after serving in the Pacific Theater to serve his Lord and Savior. It took 92 years to build his Mansion after spending 74 years with his high school sweetheart Doris. Dad served 55 plus years as a pastor in 18 different churches and after retiring 13 interims. He preached 97 Revival’s most of them being two weeks along. He preached to large crowds in Jamaica on two different occasions. My dad pastored many years to the North American Indians. One Tribe gave him the name Lum-he lut-key, meaning white eagle someone even made a comment about Dad, ” how did God put an Indian heart in a white man’s body”. Psalms 116:15 says” precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints”. Today, Sunday morning worship with his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Scott and wife Debbie, Paul and wife Linda, Tim and wife Denise; daughter, Becci and husband Stan; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Lois; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12-1 PM, service 1 PM, on Friday, October 4, at First Southern Baptist Church, 8600 W 91st Terrace, Overland Park, KS 66212. Burial will be private for the family at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
