Jake Slinkard

July 4, 1936 – August 28, 2020

Elvis left the building for the final time on Friday August 28, 2020. Jake spent the final 15 months of his life as a popular resident at Northland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Kansas City, Mo. Cause of death was “I just want to get the **** out of here”

Born on July 4th 1936 in Randles, MO, Jake was the youngest child of James William and Betty Elizabeth (Coomer). Jake is preceded in death by his ten loving brothers and sisters Gene, Hubert, Bill, Herb, Ruby, Marie, Flora, Virgil, Ernest and Betty Lou.

Prior to becoming a talented millwright and leader for 34 years at Midwest Conveyor Company in Kansas City, KS, Jake served proudly and honorably in the United States Army.

Jake met his loving wife of 59 years, Martha in Jefferson City, MO in 1960 and were married the following year in Jacksonville, MO. Jake was a faithful member of Winnwood Baptist Church for 51 years.

Dad never met a stranger and spent the final years of his life by helping anyone with anything at any time. He was a Jack of all Trades and master of all. Dad knew his way around a kitchen too. If he knew that you were hungry, you wouldn’t be hungry for long. Dad was always ready to help. He would give you the food stained shirt off of his back and was always willing to share with you the knowledge and wisdom that he learned from his many life experiences.

Even into his eighty’s, Uncle Jake was mischievous and ornery as a little boy and will be fondly remembered for his hilarious sense of humor! He could, and every time would, make anyone laugh with his “true” stories and jokes!

Above all, Jake loved his family. Jake leaves behind his wife Martha of Kansas City, MO, his two children, Susan Parker (Danny) of Pleasant Valley, MO and Jeff Slinkard (Sue) of Independence, MO. Grandpa Jake also leaves six grandchildren, Emily Langkamp (Vince) Lake Waukomis, MO,  Melissa Raine (Michael) of Kansas City, MO  Nathan Parker of Kansas City, MO, Amber Parker of Pleasant Valley, MO, Sean Minnis (Christie) of Kingsville, MO and Cody Minnis (Jenna) of Blue Springs, MO. Great Popi also had four Great Grand Children, Myla, Mason, Maci and Wren. All of Uncle Jakes Nephews, Nieces, Austin and many friends, are sad to see him go.

Rest Easy Big Jake…
