Marilyn Lee Mooney, 76, of Shawnee, KS passed away on April 2nd, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was born to Leo and Edith Nichols in Kansas City, MO. She graduated high school from Shawnee Mission North in 1960. In 1963, she married the love of her life, Thomas A. Mooney.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas and their children, Christopher, Leigh Ann, Gayle (Andrew), Ryan (Leann) and grandchildren; Mitchell (Lauren), Marcus, Austen, Caleb, Gavin and great-grandson, Brayden. She also leaves in-laws and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She earned her dental assistant certificate from the University of Missouri Kansas City. She worked in the field for the duration of her career, before retiring in 2010.

She had many lifelong friends with whom she was very active with. She had several hobbies including cards, dominoes, puzzles, crosswords, reading, bowling and aquatics. Her favorite hobby was her beloved grandchildren.

She loved to travel, whether it be a cruise, a trip overseas, weekends at the lake, a road trip to the mountains or a long drive. She just enjoyed being outdoors.

Marilyn would give you the last dollar in her pocket if she thought that you needed it more than she did. She was very generous and participated in several local charities. In lieu of flowers, please consider participating in Christmas Families (redbagskc.com). It was near and dear to her.

A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, service at 2 PM, with reception following, on Saturday, April 6, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS.
