Wallace Mills, age 85, died peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Wally, as he was known to many, was born on August 28, 1936, in Bemis, TN, the son of the late Hunter Mason and Erdie Mae Butler Mills. He served his country with distinction in the United States Army for over twenty-one years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He was employed with the U.S. Department of Labor in the Wage and Hour Division. A member of Englewood Baptist Church of Jackson, he enjoyed learning more about God’s word through his church and small group. Wally loved travelling, fishing, watching sports, and feeding and observing his birds and squirrels.
Wallace is survived by his son, Tommy Mills and wife Kim of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Linda Horne of Huntsville, AL; and his brother, Farrell Mills of Jackson, TN.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors, with Dr. Mark Edge officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Arrington Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Mills, Stewart Mills, Wally Strong, Eddie Strong, Jeff Odum and David Crook.
